During their meeting in the Paris cemetery, why was Armand not able to defeat LeStat?

ok here is what really happened. Lestat "defeated" Armand NOT w/violence but w/words. Lestat used logic and reason to beat Armand. in fact he almost single handedly(if you dont count his mom) destroyed Armand's coven by proving all of their myths wrong. in fact later Armand becomes the leader of a theatrical troupe of vampires that own and operate their own theater.
