Internet speed with wifi router?

K this is gonna be sorta long. I have a cradlepoint mbr1000 router, Sprint 3g internet 1.5mbps avg dl speed (just checked) A ps3 thats hooked up wirelessly. Heres my question my psn friend has 1.6 mbps avg dl speed and can dl a game demo in about 1 hour it takes me about 3 to 5 hours. He told me he did something to his router to increase the speed. Anyone have expiernce or know how to do that with my router? I turned of media center on my ps3 and its still really slow(i heard it helps). Also i downloaded me2 on my Comp. i speed tested and had about a 1.3mbps but i only dled at 180kbps. I also saw a video were someone used a tpz optimiezer on thier comp will it help my ps3 if i use it on my comp? Any one have help. It would be aprreiacted a lot i just dont get with a 1.5 mbps speed i dl so slow. on ps3 and comp. Any advice would be great or if anyone has done anything with thier own cradlepoint router.
