Is it disrespectful to walk on graves?

Well it is commonly believed that it is disrespectful because someone is buried there and it is rude to walk where they have been permanently laid. However, if that persons body is just going to eventually become part of the Earth and we can walk on Earth anywhere else we want to, shouldn't we be able to walk on that grave? I think so.
